Dyre Vaa collection

The museum has sculptures, paintings, graphic art and drawings by the famous artist Dyre Vaa. In separate rooms, the artists Tor Vaa and Svallaug Svalastoga are also represented.

DYRE VAA (1903 - 1980)
Next to Gustav Vigeland, Dyre Vaa is the sculptor who to the greatest extent has influenced Norwegian sculptural art. No other sculptor has won as many awards as him.
Birds and nature were the focus of Svallaug Svalastoga’s art. The graphic artist and painter was born in Rauland, but spent a great part of her artistic life living in the Lofoten islands.
TOR VAA (1928-2008)
Sculptor Tor Vaa began as a student in his father Dyre Vaa’s studio when he was 18 years old. When he was 19, he made his debut at Haustutstillinga, the fall art exhibition in Oslo, with a portrait of his sister Anne Joronn. Tor Vaa studied at the art academy in Oslo, at the academy in Copenhagen, and also went on several study-trips to Europe.
